Along the way we passed by a private island that was set up under its previous owner as an exotic animal hunting preserve, but thankfully that endeavor did not work out and now the animals get to hang out on the otherworldly landscape. I'm not sure if in this picture you can see any of the resident bighorn sheep that were out grazing, but you can see two groups of harbor seals hanging out on the shoreline.
After circling around the North end of San Juan Island, we headed down the Straight of Juan de Fuca to catch up with one of the resident pods of Orcas that were headed North. Luckily for us, they were cruising along the shore or San Juan Island, and we were able to watch several groups of them swim around and feed.
The following day we headed out to Lime Kiln Point Park to see if we could see the whales pass by (this is the part of the island they were off of the previous night, and it is supposed to be one of the best land based places in the world to see them), but all we saw was seaweed.
